Ceton BETA for Ceton Companion App & Centon Echo Extender for Windows Media Center

Ceton BETA

Over at the Ceton blog, they just announced that they will be running a Ceton beta for the new Ceton Companion App and Centon Echo Extender.

The beta for the Ceton companion app appears to be for multiple platforms: Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 7. The app seems to provide multiple functions such as: browsing your media library, starting content playback on multiple devices, managing and scheduling records, view upcoming tv shows, search function and more. Sounds very very exciting!! HTPCBuild.com likes!!! We haven’t found one phone app that does this for any of our HTPC software.

Also up on the block is the beta of Ceton Echo. Essentially the Echo is an extender for your Windows Media Center or Ceton Q. Remember that the Ceton Q is the whole home DVR system announced a few months back. The Echo will act as a standalone HTPC to playback media from your DVR or Media Server. I’m very very intrigued by the Echo. There are a lot of standalone HTPC hitting the market and for cheap, consider the Raspberry Pi. If the Q can hold its own and for a good price, it may be a popular solution for those seeking Standalone HTPCs.

Can we just say, how WHACKY?! is that video?! CEOs in plaid FTW.

If you want to join the Beta please check out Ceton’s Beta Page. You can also find more information about the beta via the Ceton Blog.
