Here at, we are obsessed with home theatre PCs and more importantly we are very cost concious. As a result, we have a extremely oversized soft spot in our hearts for the Raspberry Pi Model B. $35 for a HTPC?! Yes please! However, not all Raspberry Pi enthusiast seek to turn a Model B into a HTPC. Others might have more out of the box ideas, such as a Model B that can turn on your amp, switch your amp to the correct input source, or maybe even dim or turn off lighting in your home theatre.

Adafruit aims to help all Raspberry Pi enthusiasts create out of the box applications for our Raspberry Pis. They recently announced the launch of a Prototyping Pi Plate kit, which Raspberry Pi’s PCB plate. Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on a Raspberry Pi with Pi Plate Kit. I’d love to try my hand at creating a Model B that can automatically turn my amp on, switch inputs, and dim the lights when I launch my XBMC.
